From a womb poetry was heard for St. Mary
In the mountainous land within Ephraim's city
Let St. John testify native of the desert
How the Virgin's voice made him jump with such effort

በማህፀን ቅኔ ለማርያም ተሰማ
በተራራማ ሀገር በኤፍሬም ከተማ
ዮሐንስ ይናገር በረሃ ያደገው
ድንግል ስትናገር ምን እንዳዘለለው

He inherited this gift while inside the womb
Virgin Theotokos for she stood in the room
He leapt with so much joy and sang while rejoicing
When it came forth from her the greatest of greetings

Christ resided in her like it was prophesied
Prostrated for his God the six-month unborn child
